Case Logbook docs

Words the app uses

In short. Seventeen terms you will meet in Case Logbook, each defined in a sentence or two with a link to the page that explains it properly.

The agent : The part of Case Logbook that reads your notes and fills in procedure, side and role. It asks you a question when something is unclear, and it never rewrites your notes. → Capturing cases

Backup password : The password you set at sign-up. It is the key that opens everything scrambled on your phone, and we cannot reset it for you. → Your backup password

Vault : The scrambled store on your phone that holds the key to your names, MRNs, earnings and photos. It is open while you are unlocked and closed otherwise. → Where your data lives

Scrambled (encrypted) : Turned into unreadable bytes on your phone before it is stored, so only your unlocked phone can read it. We say scrambled; the technical word is encrypted. → Where your data lives

Recovery phrase : Twelve plain words that unlock your vault if you forget your backup password. We never see it, so you must save it yourself. → Set up a recovery phrase

Resync : The single button in Settings → Backup that fixes a device showing blank or old names. It deletes nothing and never changes your password. → Using a new or lost phone

Lost in reset : The label on a case whose patient name was lost when the vault was reset. Tap it to type the name again or delete the case. → Lost in reset

Current case : The case you last opened or captured into on this device. It counts only for 12 hours after you last opened or captured into it. Photos taken from Capture or in Hand to assistant are stamped with it, and auto-sort uses it as evidence. → Filing photos

Inbox : The tab that gathers what needs you: questions the agent is waiting on, Photos to file, and photos that filed themselves. → Your inbox

Photos to file : Photos you have taken that are not yet on a case. You file each one to a case, or let auto-sort do it. → Filing photos

Teaching file : A collection of interesting photos and X-rays that belong to no logged case, each with a body region, an optional note and its own consent. → Filing photos

Filed automatically : A mark on a photo the app put on a case for you, either by auto-sort or because it was taken in Hand to assistant during that case’s operation. It stays in the Inbox for a week with an Undo. → Filing photos

Media consent : The record that a patient agreed to clinical photography for clinical use, teaching, and showing to other patients with identifiers covered. Without it, a case’s photos can be shown only to that patient. → Consent

Standing declaration : Your one-time, dated statement that your patients’ surgical consent covers clinical photography. Cases then default to consented, with a per-case opt-out. → Consent

Cleared for showing : A photo you have reviewed and covered once, so the saved marks apply whenever it is shown to anyone but its own patient. It is a reviewed best effort, not a promise nobody can be identified. → Clearing and sharing

Confirmed (verified) : A case that matches your hospital’s own sheet, so its details are checked against the hospital’s record. Cases that come from that sheet start out confirmed. → Your cases

Standardised name : The procedure name from the standard list that the app matches your wording to, so that the same operation counts the same way everywhere. → Procedure names
