Consent
In short. Each case records whether the patient consented to clinical photography. You can also make one standing declaration if your surgical consent form already covers it. What you may do with a photo depends on that consent. Nothing is ever ticked for you. Consent records are scrambled like everything else (where your data lives).
Consent on a case
Once a case has photos, a line appears: Patient consent obtained for clinical photography: clinical use, teaching, and showing to other patients with identifiers removed. Never commercial. Tap it when you have consent. The case then shows the date.
Your standing declaration
If your surgical consent form already covers clinical photography, say so once under Settings → Photo consent: My patients’ surgical consent covers clinical photography: clinical use, teaching, and showing to other patients with identifiers removed. Never commercial. You choose the date it covers cases from.
Cases from that date show Media consent from your standing declaration. Each still has This patient did not consent for a patient who said no, with Undo. An optional second line, My outpatient consent also covers clinical photography for teaching, extends it to your Teaching file. You can withdraw the declaration at any time.
What each kind of consent allows
- Consent that covers showing to others (a recorded consent with the wording above, or your standing declaration): the photo can be prepared for showing, used in Show similar cases, put in an Album, and shared as a cleared copy.
- Older consent recorded with earlier wording that did not clearly cover showing other patients: it says so and counts for the patient’s own care only, such as Show patient for that patient. It offers Re-confirm.
- This patient did not consent: the photos stay for the patient’s own care and are never offered for showing to others.
A patient can always see their own photos in Show patient.
Less common
- Re-confirm. Tap Re-confirm on an older consent when the patient has agreed to the current wording. The case then shows the new date.
- Teaching file. Each Teaching file photo records its own consent when you add it. You can change it later from Cases → Photos.
