Combined operations
In short. One case is one patient, one sitting, one date, and it can record several procedures. The first is the main one. Each extra procedure has its own side and site.
Some cases are more than one operation under the same anaesthetic, such as an ORIF distal radius with a carpal tunnel release.
Adding the procedures
- In the capture form, open Add details and pick the main procedure.
- Tap + add another procedure to structure a second, a third, and so on before you save. Each has its own side and site.
- Or leave it, and add them later from the case page with Add procedure.
Either way you pick from the same procedure list, and each extra procedure has its own remove control.
How they show
- The first procedure is the main one. Your case list shows its name, and your numbers count it. The others are listed beneath it on the case page.
- The case list shows “+N more” beside the main procedure’s name. The full list is one tap away.
- Removing the main procedure promotes the next one. A case always keeps at least one procedure.
- Side is asked per procedure, when it matters. A right wrist and a left knee in the same sitting each carry their own side.
Bilateral operations
If the procedure list has a combined bilateral entry, such as bilateral TKR, record one procedure marked bilateral. If it does not, such as trigger finger releases on both hands, record two procedures, each with its own side.
Less common
- Staged over two days is two cases, not one.
- Even without a match to a procedure on the list, the side still shows beside the words on the case page, and you can set or change it there.
- Procedures you add yourself are never changed by the automatic matching. See Procedure names.
